The Zombie Apocalypse is coming to Santa Clarita Valley and you are among the infected! That is right folks, your friends at Heritage Haunt and the Food Pantry are putting together the Annual SCV Zombie Walk, and it is for a good cause! Come on out and be a part of this terrific event and get into Heritage Haunt for Free with your donation of $5.00 and 2 Canned Food Items.
Who: Anyone is invited; this event is for the entire family of all ages.
What: Exactly what it sounds like. It's a bunch of people...dressed like zombies...walking. Seriously, though, haven't you always wondered how it would look to see a bunch of zombies overrunning your town? This is meant to be a fun event that will give you the feel of being in your favorite zombie movie/show/comic. They've been going on for years in other cities and they've raised A TON of food for charities. In 2009 we did this and about 600 of you Zombies, and raised over a TON of food for the Newhall Food Pantry!
WHERE: Start at the Historic Newhall Jail House and Shamble/Walk down town Newhall on Main Street to Heritage Haunt inside of Hart Park. The Historic Newhall Jail House is located at 24522 Spruce Street, across from the American Legion and behind the new New “Old Town Newhall Library” The Historic Jailhouse is a little island in the middle of the Library parking lot – It was Newhall’s first Jail and was built in 1906. You will have a rare chance to see inside of the Old Jail and maybe walk away with some cool stories about it. Steel doors, Jail Cells, Bars, Scratching’s on the wall from former prisoners, and some celebrities of years gone by, you couldn’t ask for more!
Easy Directions: You can get there from 11th street off of Railroad Ave or off of Walnut from Lyons Ave. Just look for the Ghost Busters & the Giant “STAYPUFF” Marsh Mellow Man. Google Map Location
WHEN: October 13th at 3:00 pm. Shambling/Walking at 6:00pm
For those that want to have makeup provided by a professional makeup artists, registration starts at 3:00 p.m.outside the Historic Newhall Jail. If you come already Zombified, you should be there by 5:00 to allow time to get registered, and enjoy the entertainment provided.
How: Bring at least two cans of non-perishable food items, give a $5.00 donation to the Historical Society, sign the paperwork and receive your wristband that gains you access to Heritage Haunt and the Zombie Party!
Why: Besides the obvious fun reasons, this event will be collecting canned food items to benefit the food pantry and helping to preserve our local history.
What will be happening for the articipants of the Zombie March
So add October 13th to your calendar, as it will be a lot of fun for a great cause.
¨ Elvira will be at the Historic Jail that you can have your Picture taken with.
¨ The Ghost Busters will be there too!
¨ We have invited a Gourmet Brain Catering Truck, but it’s hard to say if they will show, or
want to share their brains with so many Zombies!
¨ Music and a whole lot of Zombies having a good time
¨ When you reach Heritage Haunt, Awards for the Best Zombies will be presented by Elvira at
the Zombie Party Stage!
¨ Visit all of the Heritage Haunt Mazes and the Hollywood Horror Museum!
All of that being said. Start planning your costumes now! We're looking for lots of creativity. There will be contests for best costumes. Please show up in costume, but if you can't, we plan on having some professional Makeup Artist on site who can hook folks up with some make-up for a small charge. If
